Jewelry Box - Maple & Padouk Sunburst, Tray Organization
This jewelry box was a gift for my daughter on her 9th birthday. It’s been in use for a year now and seems to be holding up really well. I used maple and padouk to make the sunburst. The remainder of the build is maple. I used natural tooling leather to cover the bottom of the trays.
Here are some build details:
I used a Leigh RTJ400 Router Table Joinery Jig to do dovetail joints on the box, lid, and the organization trays. The jig worked very will. I’ve tried other but I am able to get much better repeatability with this jig. Also, routing with this jig securely on the table feels much more controlled than having the router in hand.
I used dado joints for the tray dividers.
I sourced all of the hardware from Amazon. I think it all came together pretty well.
